Ramos and Mendy move a step closer to Stamford Bridge

Sergio Ramos and Ferland Mendy both trained on Monday morning, boosting their chances of being included for the trip to London to face Chelsea on Wednesday.

Zinedine Zidane oversaw the session, and will have been delighted to see two key defenders participate with the rest of their teammates ahead of the Champions League semi final second leg.

There are still doubts over Ramos, seeing as the captain has played just three games in 2021.

Mendy’s return will be a great relief for Zidane, with Lucas Vazquez and Dani Carvajal ruled out, as well as Raphael Varane being a doubt.

With Mendy in the line-up, Zidane could field a back three with Ramos, Nacho and Eder Militao, or a back four with Nacho as a full-back.

Time is not on Fede Valverde‘s side however, as the Uruguayan still awaits a second negative coronavirus test to return to training.
