Joan Laporta has been speaking incredibly highly of his Barcelona during the club’s 2021/22 kit launch.
The Barcelona president discussed the club’s democratic structure which will, among other things, decide on whether or not they will commit to the idea of the Super League on Sunday.
“We’re proud of our club and what it represents,” Laporta said. “It’s been almost 122 years since Joan Gamper founded the club. Half were Catalan and half were from abroad.
“They named it after the city that had welcomed them, and they made the decision to adopt its shield and its symbol.”
Laporta, given the event, also linked his thoughts to the club’s new shirt.
“The shirt also shows the pride of belonging to the city of Barcelona and to Catalonia,” Laporta added. “With it’s supportive people who believe in solidarity and give value to our culture.
“We believe in democracy and coexistence, and that allows us to grow. We feel different as Catalans and that’s why our model is democratic and our members decide.
“We also have a style of play that is a reference for people all around the world. We’re nonconformists, and that allows us to grow.”
