Real Madrid | Transfer Market Italians have option to buy striker
Roma are closing in on completing the signing of Borja Mayoral from Real Madrid.
The striker has signed a new three-year deal at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu before departing to Rome on a two-year loan.
The Serie A club have the option to buy the 23-year-old at the end of the current season for 15 million euros.
If they wait until the end of the two years to sign Mayoral permanently, Roma will have to pay 20 million euros to do so.
The former Levante forward is the latest player to leave Real Madrid this summer as the club try to make enough money to combat the financial difficulties brought on by the coronavirus pandemic.
Achraf Hakimi, Sergio Reguilon, Oscar Rodriguez, Javi Sanchez and James Rodriguez are among those to have been sold by Los Blancos this summer, while Gareth Bale, Takefusa Kubo and Reinier Jesus have been sent out on loan.
Mayoral‘s agent agreed terms with Roma on Thursday afternoon, while the player is expected to undergo a medical in Italy on Friday before signing his contract at the Stadio Olimpico.
